Reliable seeds, good service

I've ordered from Hometown Seeds a few times now, and they've been consistent. My last order was for some Pepper Seeds and Cucumber Seeds. Everything arrived well-packaged, just like my previous orders. Germination rates were good again, no issues there. It's why I keep coming back for my garden needs. Shipping took about 5 days to get to me in Oregon, which is typical.

Survival Seed Bank experience

I bought the Survival Seed Bank a few weeks ago. The ordering process on their site was smooth, no glitches. It shipped out pretty fast, I think it was 2 days after I placed the order, and then took another 4 days to reach my address in rural Idaho. The packaging for the seed bank felt very robust, designed for long-term storage which was a big plus for me. I haven't planted all of them yet, obviously, but I did test a small batch of the Carrot Seeds and Spinach Seeds, and they sprouted just fine. Customer service had answered a question I had about storage prior to my purchase, and they were quick to respond. Overall, a solid experience and I feel good about the quality for what I paid.

I've seen sales on it a couple times a year. Sometimes it's a direct discount, sometimes it's part of a 'garden kit bundle deal' where it's cheaper when bought with other stuff. Worth waiting if you're not in a rush.

Yep, free shipping deals come and go. I think I usually see it for orders over like $40 or $50 sometimes. Definitely worth waiting for if you can.

I've never been able to stack coupons there. You usually have to pick the best one. Sometimes they have automatic discounts though, like for bulk buys, and those just apply without a code so you can still use a promo code on top of that.

Yeah they do! I got some organic basil from them last year, grew great. Just look for the 'organic' tag on the product page.

Not everything is organic, but a good chunk of it is. All their stuff is non-GMO though, which is a big plus for me. You gotta filter by 'organic seeds' if that's what you're specifically after.

Are Hometown Seeds' heirloom varieties truly genuine heirlooms? I've heard some places just slap the label on anything.

From my experience, their heirlooms are legit. I've grown several over the years and they always come true to type and taste exactly as described. Plus, they promote open-pollinated, which is what heirlooms are all about.

I've compared them to Baker Creek and Seed Savers, and Hometown Seeds' heirlooms seem just as authentic. Never had an issue with cross-pollination or weird growth from their heirloom stock.

I've only ever returned tools, not seeds, but that process was easy enough. As long as the seed packets are unopened, I imagine it should be fine. Check their return policy on the site, usually pretty clear about that.
